Course Overview

This course introduces the three primary categories of compressed gases: liquefied gases, non-liquefied gases, and dissolved gases. Participants will learn why cylinder labels, markings, and safety data are critical for identifying contents and understanding associated hazards.

The training explores both the physical and chemical dangers of compressed gases. Workers will learn how unsecured cylinders can become dangerous projectiles if damaged and how flammable, oxidizing, or inert gases can create serious workplace hazards.

Special emphasis is placed on proper cylinder storage, transportation, inspection, and use. Learners will review best practices for securing cylinders, protecting valve assemblies, separating incompatible gases, and maintaining safe work environments around compressed gas equipment.

The course also addresses the unique hazards associated with liquefied and cryogenic gases. These substances can cause severe cold burns, frostbite injuries, and oxygen displacement that may lead to asphyxiation.
